Wu Liang Mountain Dian Hong/無量山滇紅

Dian Hong is black tea that is usually associated with the puerh producing region of Yunnan. The material used to make puerh tea is also used to make this type of tea. This tea, made from material from the Wu Liang Shan region, has a dried fruit like aroma and sweetness balanced with a maltiness that one would associate with black teas from Yunnan. However, where this tea really shines is in its huigan or aftertaste. Once you have finished drinking a cup of this tea, you will notice a pretty strong candy like sweetness lingering in your mouth. This is probably the only black tea I have ever tasted with such a prominent presence in the backend of the drinking experience. Most black teas are really fruity and sweet upfront with nothing after, but this tea keeps giving back long after it’s gone.
